ABOUT PTIS

PTIS, LLC is a leading business and technology management consultancy focused on Creating Value Through Packaging© and helping clients throughout the packaging value chain develop long-term packaging strategies and programs. PTIS, recognized for foresight and thought leadership, and the success of their 20+ year of the PTIS Future of Packaging™ program, helps clients achieve and incorporate these elements into their research, innovation programs, e-commerce, holistic productivity, sustainability, holistic design, and consumer/ retail insights related to packaging.

THE PTIS TEAM

TIM BROWN

Tim Brown has more than 30 years of experience in packaging engineering, packaging R&D and consulting with PTIS, LLC, HAVI, Packaging Technology & Integrated Solutions, Olympic Packaging Solutions LLC (founder), Starbucks, M&M/Mars and Nestlé.   His experience, expertise, and passion cover packaging materials and equipment and helping clients be successful at the intersection where product, packaging materials, automation and people meet.  He provides strategic and tactical direction to clients enabling them to make informed business decisions in areas such as: multi-year packaging asset strategies, material strategies, packaging innovation strategies, packaging organizational designs, use of new packaging technologies (equipment and materials), operational efficiency improvements, supply chain cost savings programs, material specifications and material specification management.  Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in packaging from Michigan State University and currently resides in Seattle, WA. 

TODD BUKOWSKI

Todd Bukowski, PTIS Principal, has over 25 years of experience in food and pharmaceutical packaging, in both R&D and operations capacities.  At PTIS, Todd leads the sustainability programs including running streamlined lifecycle assessments (LCAs) and sustainability strategies for clients and was a lead author for the Flexible Packaging Association “A Holistic View of the Role of Flexible Packaging in a Sustainable World” report, among others. He also works on package development process workflow improvements, and technology scouting as well as monitoring and tracking consumer, retail channel, sustainability, legislation and technology trends as they pertain to packaging. Todd is a program lead for the PTIS Future of Packaging™ programs and holds an MBA in Supply Chain Management and a Packaging degree from Michigan State University.

DR. MICHAEL RICHMOND

Mike is a strategic business and technical leader more than 30 years of experience across PTIS (co-founder), HAVI, Kellogg’s, Kraft Foods, and Michigan State University, where he was an assistant professor in the School of Packaging. Mike has numerous achievement awards and commendations, and is past head of the Industrial Advisory Committee for the Center for Advanced Food Technology (CAFT) at Rutgers University. Mike was recently inducted into the PMMI Packaging Hall of Fame and the MSU School of Packaging Hall of Fame. In 2013, Mike published “Creating Value Through Packaging: Unlocking a New Business and Management Strategy”. Mike lectures at both Michigan State University and Western Michigan University in their packaging, food marketing and MBA programs.

BRIAN WAGNER

Brian’s 30-year professional career as an entrepreneurial business and technical leader spans PTIS (co-founder), HAVI, Kellogg’s, Sara Lee, Multiform Desiccants, Carton-Craft Corp., Burger King and General Foods. In 2008, he was inducted into the Michigan State University School of Packaging Hall of Fame and was recognized as Western Michigan Business Review – Thought Leaders. In 2016, Brian received the Riester-Davis-Brody Lifetime Achievement in Food Packaging from the Institute of Food Technologists, and the R. David LeButt Packaging Education award. He has contributed to numerous industry journals and publications, including the Fundamentals of Packaging Technology 5th Edition, and 2012 book, Creating Value Through Packaging. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging from Michigan State University.
